Frequently asked questions

If you’re not sure how we can help, we have the answers to your questions.

What Is Tal Behavioral Health?

First of all, we’re glad you’re here. We know how difficult the journey to recovery can be, but it all begins with this first step. Tal Behavioral Health is an outpatient clinic providing treatment for substance use disorders. By relying on behavioral therapies to uncover the causes of addiction, we can help you achieve long-term sobriety.

What Is Your Treatment Philosophy?

We believe in helping people build the right connections: with themselves, with others, and with sobriety. By honestly engaging with the cause of your condition, you can find a path to recovery. Without a strong support system, recovery can be much more difficult. We help each of our clients connect once more with their families and communities so that they have people to turn to for assistance. We strive to provide compassionate treatment options that empower you to take control of the recovery process and get back control of your life. We will work with you to reestablish connection to your true self, to your family, and your community. This is a core part of our ethos. At Tal Behavioral Health we believe in intelligent, engaging, compassionate work.

What Conditions Do You Treat at Your Ohio Addiction Treatment Center?

During treatment, we explore the roots of your behavior, so you or your loved one can better understand what drives behavior. Then, we give you the tools to change them. We offer dual diagnosis treatment for co-occurring mental health conditions like depression, PTSD, anxiety, and trauma. Mental health conditions can make recovering from addiction more difficult. Therefore, we provide various behavioral therapies to work with to establish the tools you need to better understand and make lasting changes.

What Does Tal Mean?

Tal is the Hebrew word for “dew.” It captures the image that we want our patients to focus on: beginning fresh and anew after a long, dark night.

What Specific Services Do You Offer?

We create individualized treatment plans for each of our clients because we know recovering from substance use disorders is not a one-size-fits-all experience. Research shows us that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to addiction treatment. Our team will assess your needs and then work with you to develop the best plan for lasting successful recovery. To that purpose, we offer individual therapy and group therapy in a way that suits your needs. By providing outpatient services like a partial hospitalization program (PHP), an intensive outpatient program (IOP), and an aftercare program, we can guide you through virtually every facet of your recovery.

Do You Offer AA and Other 12-Step Programs?

Yes, we do. AA and 12-Step programs are available for those that would like to work through recovery using these evidence-based tools. We are not exclusively a 12-Step program since some people do not find success in the 12-steps and instead need another treatment modality.

What If 12-Step Programs Don’t Suit My Needs? What Other Treatment Modalities Do You Offer?

If you would rather not participate in a 12-step program, or have not had success in the past with 12-step, we also offer therapeutic programs that focus on cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). CBT and DBT both focus on helping you identify negative self-talk and thoughts that impact your behavior so that you can make the right changes. Trauma can play a role in your recovery as well. Whether you know that you have traumatic experiences to address or you suspect so but aren’t sure, we can help you with trauma-focused therapy like eye movement desensitization reprocessing (EMDR). We can also offer safety-based models, like somatic experiencing (SE). All of these therapies will help you address the underlying cause of your addiction and any mental health disorders.

How Are You Different from Other Addiction Treatment Programs?

We have gathered the most successful aspects of other addiction treatment programs, like providing a high level of care, and paired them with our dedication to offering individualized treatment. We’re also proud of our innovative additions to standard treatment modes that help you engage with your community once again. To break through the isolation that addiction and addiction recovery can create, we offer lectures and conversations with people who have overcome physical adversities and trauma. We also provide fitness classes, an in-house podcast booth to encourage you to speak about your recovery process, and monthly on-location experiences with artists, artisans, and more. All of these activities can help you reconnect with parts of yourself that addiction may have pushed aside or discover passions you never knew you had. Most importantly, we are with you every step of the way toward lasting sobriety and recovery. We want you to thrive in recovery instead of only surviving.

Does Tal offer Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) ?

Yes. Recovery is a unique journey for each individual. As part of our commitment to best practices, and evidence -based treatment, we have an addiction medicine-certified MD onsite to provide MAT.

What Happens After I Leave Treatment?

Throughout your treatment, we will work hard to help you build the connections to sustain you once you leave treatment. Recovery is an ongoing process that requires support, so building a team around you who will hold you accountable and encourage you to maintain your sobriety is a key goal. To make the transition easier, we also offer vocational training, interview training, and help relearning other life skills. What will you need to help support your recovery? Whatever it is, we can provide it or connect you with someone who can.

How Do I Know that I’m a Good Candidate for Your Program?

If you are committed to recovery and you have a healthy home environment, you are a good candidate for our program. Those who need medication management can benefit from our partial hospitalization program, while those who want a bit more independence can turn to our intensive outpatient program.

What’s the Admissions Process Like?

Our admissions team will meet with you to learn about your goals, your medical history, your substance use disorder, and whether you have participated in a recovery program before. Don’t worry if you have relapsed or if you struggled with other treatment programs. We will also evaluate your mental health to see if there is a co-occurring disorder we need to treat alongside your addiction.

Where Are You Located?

Our center is right in the heart of the Beachwood and Chagrin community in Cuyahoga County, OH. You can find us at Signature Square, in a Class A office full of natural light that is as welcoming as our team. Every day you come for treatment, you will be beside people just as committed to recovery as you. Come find us in Suite 390 at Signature Square I, 25201 Chagrin Boulevard, Beachwood, OH, 44122.

Do You Take My Insurance?

Because we are a new provider, we currently only accept out-of-network benefits or out-of-pocket pay, though we plan to join major insurance plans as soon as possible. Contact our admissions team today with any specific questions about cost or payment plans.

What’s the Role of My Family in All of This?

Your family is one of your first lines of support. They can be as involved in your actual treatment as you prefer. Sometimes, when you first begin treatment, you will not be ready to have your family involved. We will take the lead from you and once you feel ready, we can involve your family in your treatment. Rebuilding trust and connection are important aspects of our program.

What Level of Training Does the Staff Have?

The leaders of our clinical staff are professionals in their fields, with graduate-level degrees in counseling and social work and additional experience and training in addiction treatment. We also host training for clinicians in other facilities and communities.
